Expert Review

The 1999 Palmer Johnson 100-foot motor yacht stands out due to its aluminum construction, which offers excellent durability, lighter weight, and often better fuel efficiency compared to fiberglass at this size. C. Raymond Hunt's design ensures a capable and comfortable ride, particularly in varied sea conditions. The reported 2014 refit is a significant value add, addressing potential obsolescence in interior styling and systems. When surveying, pay close attention to the condition of the MTU engines, ensuring proper maintenance records are available, and scrutinize the aluminum hull for any signs of corrosion, especially around dissimilar metals. Compare her to similar vintage Westports or Hatteras yachts; 'FORTUNA' often provides more interior volume for her length. Her asking price, considering the refit and pedigree, positions her as a strong contender for a buyer prioritizing space and a refreshed interior over a brand-new vessel, offering considerable value for money.

Full Listing Description

100ft Palmer Johnson MY 1999/2014

FORTUNA is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind motor yacht designed for luxury cruising and entertaining. A true classic, this nautical navy-hulled American-built, 100-foot/30.5m cruising yacht was designed in a refined, luxury houseboat style that offers generous and elegant accommodations and living spaces beyond what a typical motor yacht offers. Whether hosting a dinner party cruise or embarking on a week-long vacation, FORTUNA will delight your guests in her comfort and polish. She is in flawless condition and ready to take you wherever you wish.

Built by US shipyard Palmer Johnson in 1999, Fortuna was conceived at the drawing board of famed superyacht designer C. Raymond Hunt. Fine craftsmanship is evident at every turn, and she has been beautifully maintained since delivery, with various refits and upgrades throughout her life. FORTUNA was most recently re-fit in 2014 and includes interior upgrades that were over 7-figures in total, all while being professionally maintained by an experienced captain.

Flawless, with no detail overlooked, FORTUNA has many elements not usually found on a vessel of this size. Her graceful lines on the water convey her ample, luxury liveaboard-style design. She features three polished staterooms which sleep 6, with further accommodations for a crew of four. A substantial interior includes the main salon, as well as bar and beautifully outfitted designer kitchen, all clad in sophisticated materials that are the hallmark of a classic yacht--polished mahogany and teak, beadboard overheads and teak and holly flooring, all complemented by solid brass fixtures.

Belowdecks, the staterooms are clad in the same woods and brass fixtures. The primary stateroom offers a large berth for the owner along with chic appointments and abundant storage. The two other staterooms include a queen berth also beautifully appointed and the third, with double twins-all of these with ingenious details built in.

Upstairs the covered flybridge offers a large entertaining space for enjoying the ocean view, including built in bar, lacquered teak dining tables surrounded by upholstered seating for as many as 20 guests. The uncovered deck space includes areas for sunbathing, cocktails and jacuzzi. She has plenty of space to store tenders, watersports equipment and toys, including sailboat, flats boat and zodiac.

The main aft deck, sports another generous teak tabled dining area, with seating for 15 including built in polished mahogany bookcases and bar with full pocketing sliding glass doors and removable eisinglass windows around the dining area, allowing guests to enjoy the best of indoor-outdoor living. The stern has a very large swim platform for diving, boarding or sunbathing.

Enjoyed by her current owner for the past eight years, she is a proven, well-loved vessel with long-range capability. Among many destinations, FORTUNA has traveled from Nova Scotia down through the Panama Canal all the way up to Alaska, Vancouver and the Queen Charlotte Islands.

FORTUNA lives in Florida, the Bahamas, and Southampton.
