Broker Overview

As senior brokers at Yacht Access, established in Fort Lauderdale since 1980, we present the 2004 Azimut 62, a flybridge motor yacht that continues to offer significant value in today's market. This particular Azimut 62, located in Miami, FL, represents a compelling opportunity for a buyer seeking a proven platform with a strong pedigree without the new build premium.

Azimut is known for its distinctive Italian design, and the 62 model is a prime example, blending performance with luxurious accommodations. Its market positioning is strong for those looking for a capable cruising yacht with an emphasis on comfort and style. The fiberglass hull construction is robust, designed for offshore capability while maintaining the sleek lines characteristic of Azimut. The hull design provides a stable ride, a key factor for extended cruising.

Powering this vessel are twin MTU 8 V 2000 M 90 engines, totaling 1,828 hp. These are serious engines, known for their reliability and performance, though with approximately 5,000 hours, a comprehensive engine survey is imperative. The ZF 320 transmissions are a robust pairing. While the engine hours are high, MTUs are built to endure, and proper maintenance records will be critical. The newly rebuilt 21kW Kohler generator with only 75 hours is a significant recent upgrade, ensuring reliable auxiliary power. Performance-wise, the Azimut 62 is designed for comfortable cruising speeds, with the MTUs providing ample power for reaching destinations efficiently.

Stepping inside, the interior layout is a hallmark of the Azimut 62. The salon is exceptionally spacious, offering generous U-shaped and straight sofa seating, creating an inviting social area. Forward, the elevated dinette with its unique convertible table provides flexible dining or cocktail arrangements. The U-shaped galley is well-appointed, making extended stays onboard practical. The lower helm station is comprehensive, offering full instrumentation for navigation.

Accommodations include a full-beam master stateroom aft, notable for its six large oval portholes flooding the space with natural light and an impressive walk-in closet. The VIP stateroom forward rivals many master cabins in size, featuring an island berth and an ensuite head. A guest stateroom with side-by-side bunks and a dedicated guest/day head complete the three-stateroom, three-head layout. Crew quarters are located aft, accessible from the cockpit.

Key features include a bow thruster for enhanced maneuverability, and the overall volume of the interior is a significant selling point. The vessel's condition is listed as 'Used,' which is expected for a 2004 yacht. While the listing highlights recent generator work, a thorough pre-purchase survey will be essential to assess the condition of all systems, particularly given the engine hours. The trade-off here is a well-regarded yacht at a competitive price point ($499,000) that will likely require some investment to bring certain systems up to optimal standards. This is a common scenario with vessels of this vintage and engine hours.

For a buyer considering a serious cruising yacht in the 60-foot range, this 2004 Azimut 62 offers a solid platform. Its spaciousness, proven hull design, and the MTU power package make it a compelling option for those prioritizing interior volume, comfort, and a recognizable brand. We encourage serious inquiries and are prepared to facilitate a detailed inspection of this Azimut Motor Yacht in Miami, FL.

Expert Review

The Azimut 62, as a flybridge motor yacht, represents a strong contender in its class for those prioritizing space and Italian styling. Build quality from Azimut is generally robust, utilizing solid fiberglass below the waterline and cored construction above, providing a good balance of strength and weight. The hull design offers a comfortable ride in moderate seas, characteristic of a semi-displacement hull, making it suitable for coastal and some offshore passages. While not a high-performance vessel, its sea-keeping abilities are respectable for a yacht of its size and type.

Value-wise, a 2004 Azimut 62 at $499,000 with 5,000 engine hours on the MTUs is priced competitively, reflecting the need for a comprehensive assessment of its mechanical systems. The high engine hours are a primary consideration; while MTUs are durable, their service history and current condition are paramount. A pre-purchase survey, including a full engine inspection by a qualified MTU technician, is not just recommended but absolutely critical. This will identify any deferred maintenance or potential major overhauls required. Factor in potential refit costs for electronics and soft goods, and you have a solid platform for a long-term investment.
