Broker Overview

This 2004 Sea Force IX 82 Enclosed Bridge, named "JR," represents a significant opportunity in the large sportfish market. Sea Force IX built a reputation for robust construction and serious offshore capability, and this 82-footer is no exception. Powered by twin MTU 16V2000 engines, she offers the performance and reliability expected for serious tournament fishing or long-range cruising. The B model layout is practical, featuring three staterooms and three heads forward, complemented by a three-berth crew area with dual access, a critical consideration for extended trips. The enclosed bridge provides comfort and excellent visibility in all conditions, while the secondary aft pod helm ensures precise control during fishing operations. Her massive cockpit, complete with mezzanine, tuna door, transom baitwells, and in-deck fish boxes, is designed for serious angling. While she does not have stabilizers, bow, or stern thrusters, her substantial hull and powerful engines provide a solid platform. This vessel is priced competitively at $1,295,000, offering considerable value for a yacht of this size and capability, particularly given the quality of her build.

Expert Review

Sea Force IX yachts are known for their heavy-duty construction and no-nonsense approach to offshore sportfishing. This 82-foot enclosed bridge model is a testament to that philosophy. The fiberglass hull is built to withstand demanding conditions, providing a stable and capable platform. Performance with the twin MTU 16V2000s will be strong, offering excellent speed and range for a vessel of this size. For a buyer, the value proposition at $1,295,000 for an 82-foot sportfish of this caliber is compelling. During a survey, pay close attention to the age and condition of the mechanical systems, particularly the MTU service history. The absence of stabilizers, bow, or stern thrusters means handling will require a skilled hand, especially in close quarters or rough seas, which is typical for many serious sportfish of this era. Comparable alternatives might include larger Hatteras or Viking sportfish, but the Sea Force IX offers a unique blend of custom build quality and robust engineering.

Full Listing Description

"JR" is a 2004 Sea Force IX original 82' Enclosed Bridge with the B model layout, which has three staterooms and three heads forward, with a three-berth crew area tucked below the galley and has access from both the companionway or the engine room. The open salon allows easy traffic flow in all directions, including the galley. An island galley with a large countertop allows dining around the galley’s open bar and at the dinette to starboard. Another great feature in the salon is a small wet bar situated adjacent to the aft door and just under the staircase to the bridge.

The massive cockpit has a mezzanine overlooking the cockpit, a large intermediate step in the stairway on each side serves as a small but functional boarding area, easing what is an awkward and sometimes dangerous exercise on many sport fisherman. The cockpit has a tuna door, transom bait wells, in deck fish boxes, and large enough for two chairs and lots of locker space.

The enclosed bridge has an abundance of amenities and seating including a L lounge with table, wet bar and great view from the helm chairs and dual facing companion seats. Outside, there is an aft-facing bench and a pod helm which provides full view of the fishing action.
