Broker Overview

This 2004 Bertram 67 represents a significant opportunity for a serious sport fisherman or a discerning buyer seeking a robust offshore platform. Located in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, this vessel is powered by twin MTU 16V2000 HP engines, providing the necessary power and reliability for extended runs. The Bertram 67 model is renowned for its exceptional build quality, deep-V hull design, and sea-keeping capabilities, making it a formidable contender in its class. This particular yacht benefits from several key upgrades, including new 25kW Northern Lights generators installed in 2018, a comprehensive Garmin electronics package from 2021, and refreshed cockpit teak in 2020. With three cabins and two heads, the interior offers surprisingly spacious accommodations for a sportfishing yacht of this size, featuring two double suites and two twin cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms. The full-beam master stateroom is a notable highlight. While the asking price of $895,000 reflects its age, the recent upgrades and the inherent quality of a Bertram hull make this a compelling value proposition in the current market. A thorough survey will be essential to assess the overall condition, particularly given its location and intended use.

Expert Review

The Bertram 67 is a purpose-built sportfishing machine, and this 2004 model carries that legacy forward. Bertram's build quality from this era is generally excellent, characterized by robust fiberglass construction designed to handle demanding offshore conditions. The deep-V hull provides a comfortable ride in a chop, though it will require significant horsepower, which the twin MTU 16V2000s certainly deliver. For a buyer, the value for money here is strong, considering the size, engine package, and recent upgrades. During a survey, pay close attention to the MTU engine records and service history, as these are high-performance powerplants. The new generators, Garmin electronics, and cockpit teak are significant positives, but inspect all other systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, for age-related wear. Comparables might include Hatteras or Viking sportfishers of similar vintage, but the Bertram 67 often stands out for its raw, no-nonsense offshore capability.

Full Listing Description

Some features and upgrades:

  • MTU M91 2000
  • New 2 25kw Northern Lights Generators (2018)
  • New Garmin Electronics (2021)
  • New Cockpit Teak (2020)

Astonishingly spacious accommodation for the 670’s nominal dimensions. Two double suites, and two twin cabins with suite bathrooms. The main suite, ahead of the insulating fuel tank, uses the full 18' 6" beam and, through the clever use of mirrors, appears almost to have acreage. Mirrors are a feature of the interior, and are particularly effective used as the ceilings of all the bathrooms.
